Dipingere i cavalli mi dà una sensazione difficile da spiegare. Forse perché nei loro occhi c’è qualcosa di antico e libero, e mentre li dipingo mi sembra quasi di entrare per un momento nel loro mondo. Mi piace seguire la forma del muso, la luce sul pelo, quella calma che hanno anche quando sembrano pronti a correre lontano. Ogni pennellata cerca di fermare un piccolo istante, senza togliere al cavallo la sua libertà.

Peindre les chevaux me procure une sensation difficile à expliquer. Peut-être parce qu’il y a dans leurs yeux quelque chose d’ancien et de libre, et que, lorsque je les peins, j’ai presque l’impression d’entrer un instant dans leur monde. J’aime suivre la forme de leur museau, la lumière sur leur robe, cette tranquillité qu’ils gardent même lorsqu’ils semblent prêts à courir au loin. Chaque coup de pinceau cherche à retenir un petit instant, sans enlever au cheval sa liberté.

Painting horses gives me a feeling that is difficult to explain. Perhaps it’s because there is something ancient and free in their eyes, and while I paint them, I almost feel as if I am entering their world for a moment. I love following the shape of their muzzle, the light on their coat, that sense of calm they have even when they seem ready to run far away. Each brushstroke tries to capture a small moment, without taking away the horse’s freedom.
